You have probably seen many photos that were taken at a themed photo session. Your friends’ kids got their latest pictures taken in matching Western outfits. If you are considering a themed photo session, answer the following questions discover your ideal theme:

Is this photo session indoors or outdoors? If it’s outdoors you’ll probably want to consider a theme that suits the current weather.

What season is it? If you are looking to use a specific backdrop or seasonal prop, use Mother Nature’s current display as your theme.

Do you love a specific historical era, such as the 50’s? Or a particular TV series like Star Trek? There are so many eras and movies that you can draw inspiration from. Make a list of shows, movies & eras that you and your family love.

  1. Bring multiple wardrobe options. Sometimes what you might think will work, might not photograph well so it is best to have options. Lace and cottons photograph best. Try to stay away from shinny fabrics like satin. And don’t for get some shoe options!
  2. Treat yourself to a mani and pedi. Or do it yourself, either way it will look best if your fingernails and toes look as sexy as the rest of you!

A Few Don’ts

  1. No new haircuts right before the shoot.
  2. No fake tans immediately before the shoot. Personally I prefer a subject’s natural skin tone but if you love the look of tan skin please schedule your tanning session at least 4 days prior to the shoot.

  1. No Botex or collagen injections a week before the shoot. Just incase something goes awry you will have enough time to heal.
  2. No negative self-talk on the set. Once you enter the session it is all positivity. This is a “Love Your Body” only zone!
